Why I Write, Photograph, and Teach: The Common Thread in My Work

"Writer. Photographer. Teacher. At first glance, it looks like I’m trying to do too much. But look closer, and you’ll see they are actually the same thing."

"In my books, I tell stories with words.

In my photos, I tell stories with light.

In my teaching, I empower you to tell your own stories"

To some, writing a novel, capturing a portrait, and explaining a language might seem like three different worlds. But for me, they are just different ways of doing the exact same thing: finding and sharing the beauty in human connection.

Teaching: Passing on the Key

Teaching languages is perhaps the most rewarding "common thread." Language is the ultimate tool for connection. When I teach, I’m not just sharing vocabulary; I’m giving my students the key to unlock new cultures, stories, and friendships.

This passion for empowering others is exactly why I created my new book series, "Working in English Made Easy." I realized that for many, the English language is the only thing standing between them and their brilliant professional future. These books aren't just about grammar; they are about giving you the tools, etiquette, and confidence to master your professional presence in a global world.

Photography: Capturing the Moment

If writing is the inner world, photography is my way of honoring the outer world. A camera forces me to stop, look, and appreciate. My photography often inspires the descriptions in my books; the "stories" I see in people’s eyes often become the seeds for new characters. Photos

Writing: Finding the Narrative

For me, writing is about the "inner world." It’s where I explore the thoughts we don't always say out loud and the lessons life has carved into my journey.

My writing serves two purposes:

  • The Heart: Through my memoirs and life stories, I aim to build a bridge between my imagination and your heart, sharing the raw "lessons learned" along the way. A Woman of the World, The Sixth Sense of Life

  • The Future: Through my series, "Working in English Made Easy," I translate those lessons into a professional roadmap. I’m giving you the tools, etiquette, and confidence to master your professional presence in a global world.  Books

Whether I am sharing a personal memory or a business strategy, my goal is the same: to provide you with the narrative you need to succeed.

The Common Thread

The thread that ties these three together is Storytelling.

  • In my books, I tell stories with words.

  • In my photos, I tell stories with light.

  • In my teaching, I empower you to tell your own stories in a new language.

This blog will be a space where these three worlds collide. I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes looks at my writing process, the stories behind my favorite images, and practical tips to help you master a new language.

I’m so glad you’re here for the journey.

I’d love to know: Which of these three areas resonates most with you? Are you a fellow creative, a language lover, or a bit of both? Let me know in the comments!
